In Tarot there are no right or wrong ways to spread the cards for your reading. Most Tarot readers develop their own spreads depending on the type of Tarot reading they wish to perform.

This is one of the largest Tarot spreads you will come across. It consists of forty nine cards, seven across and seven down. This can take up to an hour to read, therefore should not be attempted if time is of the importance. Also, as the Rainbow Tarot spread is so large, it would be a good idea to make sure the table you are working on is going to be big enough to accommodate the spread.

The Rainbow Tarot spread gets its name from the rows corresponding to the Chakra's (energy points) of the body. The Chakra's are depicted by the colours of the rainbow. Starting at the bottom of the spine, the Chakras are: Red - Base, Orange - Sacral, Yellow - Solar Plexus, Green - Heart, Blue - Throat, Indigo - Brow, Violet - Crown. As the chakras govern our energy points, the Rainbow Tarot spread uses the Chakra energies as a reference to the meanings of the rows.

Before starting this Rainbow Tarot spread you must ensure all the Tarot cards are facing the same direction in the pack. The recipient is then asked to shuffle the Tarot cards. When the recipient feels they have shuffled the Tarot cards sufficiently for their Tarot reading, they are asked to cut the Tarot cards and place the bottom section onto the top. The Tarot reader then arranges the cards as in the diagram above, starting from the bottom, working from left to right.

Starting from the bottom, each row indicates:

1. Red - What is uppermost in recipients mind

2. Orange - What is important to the recipient.

3. Yellow - What the recipient feels.

4. Green - What the recipient desires.

5. Blue - What the recipient needs.

6. Indigo - The recipients future

7. Violet - The recipients abilities.

As with all future predictions you must make sure the recipient is aware that they are intended as 'guidelines only'. Everybody has the power to change anything they do not like as regards to their lives. Being forewarned about future events can enable people to change the things the don't like, or ensure they don't miss the good opportunities that may come their way. Your future is entirely in your own hands.
