What is Palmistry?

|
Palmistry is a method of divination that involves the palmist interpreting the shape of the hand, fingers, mounts and the lines of the palm. Most people are under the impression that a palmist only reads the lines of the hand. I too was under this impression before I began my study course on the subject. Palmistry is a fascinating subject as it enables you to see the character and possible life experiences of an individual. Palmistry is actualy a combination of 3 scientific areas: Cheirognomy - the art of reading character from the shape and size if the hand, fingers and thumb, Cheiromancy - the art of reading the lines of the palm and Palmistry is an ancient practice that can be found dating back thousands of years. Judging by the number of hands painted in prehistoric caves it would appear that the people of the Stone Age were aware that the human hand could hold secrets relating to the individual person. Archaeological discoveries have discovered hands made of stone, wood and ivory by other ancient civilizations. The basic framework for modern day Palmistry (the most widely taught and practiced tradition) is rooted in Greek mythology. Each area of the palm and fingers are related to a god or goddess, and the features of that area indicate the nature of the corresponding aspect of the subject. Palmistry begins with the palmist looking at the shape of the hand, fingers and thumb. This is followed by the interpretaion of the mounts and lines of the palm. The interpretation the palmist makes can provide you with answers to questions you have regarding your life. Some palmists look at only the major hand of the client (the most dominant), but other palmists will ask to see both hands. This is totally up to the palmist themselves and the way in which they work. I myself like to look at both hands as this gives me more information to pass on to the client. In palmistry it is noted that the major hand holds information regarding the events that have taken place in the clients life and what they can reasonably expect to happen in their future. The major hand shows the clients skills and abilities the client has now, and those that they can draw on at any time. The minor hand holds information regarding the potential and wishes of the client. If your client is right-handed then it is the left hand that is considered the ‘birth hand’, which shows inherited characteristics, while the right hand is thought to reflect individuality and potential. For a left-handed client the opposite would apply.
